validate_digits rejects input starting with "0"

I need to prompt the user for his phone number if it´s hidden and reread it to him after input, but say_digits throws an exception in validate_digits.

Validate_digits tries to convert it´s input to an integer and throws an error if it can´t. Sequences of digits starting with '0' obviously cant be valid integers.
