dial timeout doesn't quite work

If one runs something like this in a context to call another phone and bridge:
dial('SIP/5125551212@myvoipprovider', :for => 20.seconds)
Then after 20 seconds the adhearsion context continues to run and the channels are not bridged, BUT, 5125551212 is still ringing! The callee who then answers will have a nice silent but live call.

Please close ticket. Turns out some providers (2 out of the 3 I used for this project) fail to hangup the call when they are supposed to. Leaving it ringing.
